Lighting Design: project by Quarchatelier with Simone Fumagalli, Marina Del Monaco and Michael Bader.

Beyond Viale Monza in Milan there is an intricate industrial and artisan architectural pattern: offices and warehouses buildings follow one another almost spontaneously.

In 2008 heading Quarchatelier we were selected by Beiersdorf’s management to redevelop the common areas and the relaxation area of the Milan headquarters.

The 360 ° project was inspired by the white coloured famous NIVEA cream.

The relaxation area: an enchanted garden. A shiny white counter-wall, a metaphor of an imaginary wood, rises and bends to the ceiling reflecting itself on the floor in a mirror of white resin.

The exterior is like an empty projection of the plain structure characterising the interiors, it is a terrace enclosed by a row of magnolias. The wire framed iron roof projects light and shadow effects on the smoothed beola stone of the floor.

The light panel is a rear enlightened synthetic material (Corian). The floor is a reflective white resin by Tecnicem – MIlano.
